Warner at the launch of STARS, the new state-of-the-art radio system that will allow state and local first responders to communicate. The first phase, in the Richmond area, is online -- with the entire state up in 2008.  See the news release for more information.

January 12, 2006 - Governor Warner released the result of the DNA retesting in the case of Roger Keith Coleman. The report from the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto concluded Coleman cannot be excluded as the source of the major DNA profile on the biological evidence.

January 10, 2006 - Governor Mark Warner made six job announcements totaling 834 new jobs across Virginia:

  • Amcor Pet Packaging will bring manufacturing operations and 144 jobs to Wythe County (see news release);
  • 200 jobs are coming to Orange County via Diversified Information Technologies customer support center (see news release);
  • Intermet's expansion in Radford County will yield 175 new jobs (see news release);
  • Raytheon Company will open a new high-tech facility in the City of Suffolk (see news release);
  • Danville will see 250 new jobs courtesy of Televista's expansion there (see news release); and
  • Timken Company's expansion will bring 50 new jobs to Campbell County (see news release).

December 16, 2005 - Governor Mark R. Warner addressed the General Assembly's Joint Money Committees and presented his final proposed budget.
