Participation and Learning

Young people and teachers from all over Scotland demonstrate what its like to participate as equal partners in vibrant school communities.

The video clips show how a number of schools are creating respectful climates for learning, which motivate and engage children and young people. A range of opportunities, from decision-making in the classroom through traditional structures, such as pupil councils, to wider citizenship activities are explored, along with leadership roles for adults and young people.

Participation and Learning resource

The Participation and Learning resource explores the issues around participation and decision making in school communities. It illustrates how Scottish school communities are enabling children and young people, teachers, parents and others to 'get involved' in all aspects of school life.
