Partners, the Heritage Community Foundation and CKUA Radio Network, are thrilled to provide the first phase of this dynamic source of information, documenting Alberta's arts community. Providing comprehensive coverage of the arts in Alberta is a massive undertaking. This site is the first phase of a multi-phase project and should be considered, at this point, as a representative selection of information, rather than comprehensive. Future phases will include additional information, commissioned pieces by renowned Alberta artists and further CKUA arts and culture programming.

As for now, journey with us to explore the development of Alberta's arts community over the past 100 years.

The site features five main sections:

Performing Arts: Take a look at the performing arts in Alberta. Be introduced to the singers, actors and dancers who are a beloved part of Alberta's cultural landscape. Use these pages to follow our exploration into the culture of the stage.

Literary Arts: Explore the diversity of the literary community in Alberta. Follow the development of the creative minds who have completed literary feats, the supporting institutions, accolades and celebration surrounding the printed word in this province.

Visual Arts: Summer 2002 IssueLearn about the visual arts in Alberta, explored through painters and potters, photographers and crafters, their professional associations and events. Navigate this section to find insight into the beauty and inspiration of the visual arts world.

Film and Media Arts: Learn about film and the digital arts in Alberta. Discover the development of a classic form of art alongside new and burgeoning fields created through new media.

Artist Database: Search through our database featuring a representative selection of Albertan artists. Artist profiles are supplemented by CKUA programming and additional documents and photographs from the community.
