Edmonton's hockey legacy, as well as its future, can be found on frozen ponds and outdoor ice of neighborhood rinks. In community centers, where minor hockey thrives, kids of all ages dream of holding the Stanley cup like Gretzky, Messier, and Lowe did years ago. They call out names of current Oilers, who they've met through community events and special school visits, and try to touch upon their spirit. Kids mimic their idols and the Oilers know that in a city like Edmonton, where hockey is akin to religion, there is responsibility both on and off the ice.
