Doors Open Alberta

Doors Open Alberta

Welcome!

Here you can learn about Doors Open's history in the world, in Canada and in Alberta. Discover how to plan and host an event in your community and become part of the excitement!

Doors Open Alberta is a province-wide celebration of Alberta's important and unique places and spaces. Heritage and contemporary architecture and historical and culturally significant spaces are showcased. It is also an invitation to visit and recognize the spaces that contribute to the identity of our communities.

The global movement began in France over 20 years ago and was brought to Alberta by the Heritage Community Foundation in 2002. Each year Doors Open Alberta communities invite locals and visitors to enter buildings, some rarely, if ever, open to the public, and explore their rich history.

Discover the origins of Doors Open, locate events taking place throughout Alberta, and encounter Alberta's landmark buildings and places.
