The Vision of the Heritage Community Foundation is to have heritage valued by everyone. The Foundation's definition of heritage includes the historical, natural, cultural, scientific, and technological heritage. These embrace landscapes, buildings and streetscapes, objects and records. Connecting all of these are stories and narratives—all of those tangible and intangible things that help to define us as individuals and communities.
The World Wide Web has been chosen as the primary medium for communicating media-rich heritage content to educational users and the general public. The Foundation uses digital technology for public engagement. The Heritage Community Foundation develops and resources web development projects that showcase the historical, natural, cultural, scientific and technological heritage of Alberta. Both public- and private-sector partners are involved in online content development.
In the accomplishment of its vision, the Foundation partners with museums, archives, historical societies and any other heritage institutions and organizations; ethnocultural and community organizations; educational institutions and organizations; professional associations; the media; corporations; foundations; and public-spirited individuals.
