Calgary Heritage Authority

The Calgary Heritage Authority was established in 1985 by an Act of the Alberta Legislature to promote the enhancement and restoration of Calgary’s heritage buildings and areas. Up to nine members are appointed annually by Council including a representative from the Heritage Advisory Board.

Objectives:

  • Manage, renovate and maintain Calgary’s heritage properties

  • Work with the technical and economic challenges of saving historic buildings

  • Actively seek new ideas and projects that would promote Calgary’s heritage

  • Raise funds as a Registered Charity under the Charities Act

  • The Calgary Heritage Authority meets quarterly or at the call of the chair
