J. Douglas Leonard, Trustee

Doug Leonard is the former Director of the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies and Archives and former Assistant Director of the Manitoba Museum of Man and Nature. He has served on a range of museum advisory bodies including the Canadian Museums Human Resources Planning Committee's subcommittee on performance measures and benchmarking, and the Editorial Board of the Canadian Museums Association magazine, Muse.

He was instrumental in obtaining the Hudson Bay Archives for the Manitoba Museum of Man and Nature. He chaired Alberta Museums Association's Fund Development Committee that recommended that a foundation be established to support heritage education and to build sustaining support for the historical, natural and cultural heritage. This led to the establishment of the Heritage Community Foundation. He is the past President of the Alberta Museums Association and is the President/Chair of the Friends of the Heritage Community (FHC) Foundation as well as the Policy Trustee of the Foundation.
