The Chinook Country Chapter of the Historical Society of Alberta was established in 1958. It became the Chinook Country Historical Society in 1993 when the chapter incorporated and received charitable status. CCHS includes not only the City of Calgary, but the entire region extending from the British Columbia border to the Saskatchewan border and from Nanton to Olds.

With approximately 460 members, each year from September to April the CCHS presents an exciting series of historical lectures. Late July brings Historic Calgary Week, when we celebrate Calgary's history through walks, talks and special events. Nearly all programs are free for members and the general public. Members receive a bi-monthly newsletter, which is also posted on our website.
