Skills Canada
Skills Canada Alberta (SCA) was established in 1992, as an outgrowth
of the Skills Canada program. The organization as a whole is dedicated
to promoting youth interest in the trades, through a series of
field-related competitions held each year.
Schools affiliated with the non-profit Skills Canada Alberta program
are invited to apply and to submit the names of candidates capable of
competing in the trade-based events. These activities include (but are
not limited to) brick laying, sheet metal working, plumbing, aesthetics,
baking, and architectural achievement.
Those fortunate competitors who win on the provincial level are then
invited to compete nationally.
The Alberta competition is hosted in Edmonton at the Northlands
AgriCom, as a skills trade show. In 2001, the national competition was
held there as well.
