Performing Arts

A Midsummer Night's DreamThe performing arts section of this website considers three main disciplines: music, theatre and dance. Each of these disciplines is examined thoroughly, regarding the history and structure of the performing arts in Alberta. A further breakdown includes other sections that reflect on the people, organizations and events that make-up Alberta's performing arts community.

The Christmas Carolpeople section includes many familiar performers, actors, singers and dancers that have achieved success beyond the local stage. Some of the artists listed are less recognized, yet have had a profound impact on their local scene. Each profile includes a works section, with a detailed listing of the accomplishments of every individual.

Wilf CarterThe groups section details many of the organizations that are an essential part of the performer's career. They exist to support, promote and enhance the exposure of their particular cause, from Ukrainian dance to classical opera. This also includes the many world class facilities that are available for local artists and touring companies alike.Fringe Festival

The events section looks at the history and significance of a representative selection of performing arts festivals from around the province. These events allow performers to showcase their work to the public and enhance the closely knit network of Alberta's arts community.
