The Métis Centennial Voyage begins with an historic voyageur canoe trip on the North Saskatchewan River from Edmonton to Métis Crossing. The boats will travel the route of the fur traders and the explorers as they ventured through the spectacular regions we now know as Alberta. The journey will be guided by Métis people and accompanied by historians and other experts who will share insights of the history and landscape of our river valley. The event will culminate with a centennial celebration at Métis Crossing on the river banks, including fiddle music and jigging by talented Métis artists from across Alberta.

Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park and Fort Walsh National Historic Site, in partnership with the community of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, are proud to present a performance of the world famous RCMP Musical Ride, dedicated to the centennial anniversaries of the provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan
The RCMP Musical Ride will be performed on the historic parade grounds at Fort Walsh where the North West Mounted Police practised the cavalry drills which eventually evolved into the modern musical ride. The very first of the force’s signature, black, Musical Ride horses were bred and raised in Fort Walsh.

On Sunday afternoon, Lougheed House will officially open as a public heritage centre, a key event
in Calgary's 100 Years in 10 Days to celebrate Alberta's centennial. Although the National Historic Site has welcomed visitors since May 1, the centennial garden party will mark the grand opening. From 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, all are invited to the 2.8-acre site in the heart of Calgary's downtown Beltline District to explore the recently restored 1891 sandstone mansion, take part in heritage activites, enjoy musical entertainment, Edwardian craft demonstrations, refreshments from Isabella’s Café—at no charge! National, provincial, and local VIPs will join Lougheed House dignitaries on stage in the big tent in the backyard for a ceremony at 2:00 pm. A birthday celebration for Medicine Hat and Alberta will coincide with the RCMP Musical Ride at the Stampede Arena. Pioneer Village, which displays working heritage buildings, will host an afternoon of entertainment with local music, clowns, popcorn, snow cones, birthday cake, and a picnic BBQ starting at 3:30 pm, and ending at 7 pm so people can walk over to the nearby arena for the RCMP Musical Ride. Long term residents will receive personal invitations to attend.
