Welcome to the Teacher Zone !!

Welcome to the Language and Culture Edukit. The Language and Culture Edukit is designed to help you to introduce students to the importance of Aboriginal language to cultural identity. The lesson plans follow the topics and generalizations set forth in the current Social Studies Curriculum as well as the Aboriginal Studies 10, 20, 30 Curriculum. These lesson plans provide you with background information on Aboriginal languages and culture in Alberta and across Canada. There are also a series of lesson plans that focus on the M├ętis language, Michif. Students will be active participants in the learning process, as the lessons are all designed to maximize student participation. The Teacher Resources Section will provide you with additional materials to supplement the lesson plans and introduce you and your students to a variety of learning tools.
