Tidbits
- Sweet grass grows on the prairie and was collected individually and then braided together. It is one of the most important spiritual items/components used in Aboriginal ceremonies
- Kinnikinnik is commonly found in open woods or on dry, sandy hillsides
- Bergamot is a perennial herb that usually grows in the prairies, hillsides, pastures and roadsides. It has white and lavender flowers that bloom from June until September
- Indian Breadroot is a perennial herb found on mixed grass prairies and open in woodlands
- Sweet grass is commonly found on the prairie. It has flat leaves and green flowers that bloom for three months every summer
- Cows Parsnip is a perennial herb which grows in moist areas. Whitish purple flowers bloom only in June and July
- Puccoon is a perennial herb found on the prairies and in open woods. It has yellow/orange flowers that bloom in the spring
