Multimedia

The Oblates in the West is a dynamic, multimediawebsite with text, images, audio and video. The Heritage Community Foundation has created some of these resources. L’Institut pour le Patrimoine, Campus Saint-Jean, University of Alberta has contributed visual and archival materials. In addition, permission has been obtained to reprint a number of important articles that comprise the best of current scholarship in the field.

This section showcases a virtual exhibit – For the Life of the World Virtual Exhibit (Heritage Community Foundation and Royal Alberta Museum).


Features Articles DatabaseFeature Articles

The section showcases contemporary scholarship in the field of Oblate studies. Of particular importance are the conference proceedings gathered in Western Oblate Studies, volumes 1-5 of which a few are re-printed with the permission of the authors and publishers. The Provincial Museum of Alberta undertook a comprehensive Oblate research project and a number of papers are reproduced on this site. Other feature articles have been contributed by Raymond Huel, PhD, and Gilles Cadrin, PhD.

Images have been drawn from the Oblate and Saint-Jean Archives to create photo exhibits.


Digital Archives/DatabaseDigital Archives

This section includes the Regards, paroles et gestes booklet commemorating 100 years of history of Campus Saint-Jean.In addition, the photo documentation of the St. Paul Cemetery is included since St. Paul was important not only for Oblate activities but also as Métis and Francophone community.


VideoVideo

This section includes a Lac Ste Anne Pilgrimage video and the Campus Saint-Jean Alberta Moment (French and English).  All were produced by the Heritage Community Foundation.


AudioAudio

The Heritage Community Foundation in partnership with CKUA Radio Inc. digitized the Heritage Trails series of 3-minute historical radio documentaries.  A number of these document Oblates and Oblate activities.


Map ZoneMap Zone

Maps of missions, Treaty and language areas have been included to help contextualize the work of the Oblates.


BibliographyBibliography

A comprehensive bibliography of publications was compiled to assist on research for the Website and is included for the information of the user.
