Discover the historical, natural and cultural heritage of the Alberta Heartland through the eyes of children and youth.

The Heartland of Alberta is edged by the ranches of the south, the foothills of the west and the boreal forest of the north. During the fur trade period, a north-south trading route bisected the Heartland. The immigrant settlement boom in the area, made possible by the arrival of the railway, occurred between 1885 and 1914. Most of the towns and cities in the Heartland have continued to experience growth as people migrate from across Canada and the world to work in the industrial "heartland" of Alberta.
