Aboriginal Youth Identity Series: Origin and Settlement
student zonegrade 3grade 4grade 5grade 10grade 11grade 12

Welcome to the Teacher Zone !!

The Teacher’s Zone supplements the current Social Studies Curriculum and Aboriginal Studies Curriculum with a variety of lesson plans that are all Aboriginal or Métis in nature. Each lesson plan indicates where in the curriculum you can incorporate lessons, and provides a Teacher Information background section on Aboriginal history and culture. Many lesson plans include downloadable worksheets that can be printed off or transferred to transparencies. Each of the Main Lessons also provide supplementary activities that can turn one lesson into a mini-unit on Aboriginal Origin and Settlement.

The lesson plans are all developed to allow students to be interactive as possible in the learning process. The title of each lesson reflects the learning objective, making it easy for you to sort through and choose what information you would like to share with your students. A Teacher Resources section includes a list of books and materials that you may want to use to increase your own understanding of Aboriginal origin and settlement or use in addition to the lessons in the classroom.
