The source for much of the following information on Calgary's Italian Community is With Heart And Soul: Calgary's Italian Community by Antonella Fanella.  The Heritage Community Foundation thanks her, as well as the University of Calgary Press, for permission to use these materials.

Additional material regarding the Italian immigrant experience in Calgary is provided in a paper by David E. Aliaga titled Italian Immigrants in Calgary: Dimensions of Cultural Identity.  The paper was based on interviews, conducted from January of 1992 to February of 1994, of 144 men drawn from a sample of Italian immigrants in Calgary, including both southern and northern Italians.  All respondents had come to the city of Calgary after the Second World War.

As well, a search through the issues of Il Congresso, Alberta's Italian newspaper with offices in Edmonton and Calgary, provides glimpses of contemporary issues of concern to Calgary's Italian community.
