All-Star Series
For a lengthy stretch during the
1980s, the Edmonton Oilers were the greatest show on
ice, boasting a roster so talented that Stanley Cups
became a foregone conclusion. With names like Gretzky,
Messier,
Kurri,
Coffey,
Lowe,
Anderson and
Fuhr
wearing the oil drop on their chests, Edmonton’s
best often came to dominate the NHL’s annual All-Star
festivities. Even after those superstars packed their
bags and moved on, Oilers have continued to
represent the organization at the run-and-gun
exhibition. Players such as Doug
Weight, Tommy Salo, Janne Niinimaa and
Eric Brewer are just a few of the high-profile names that have
continued a long tradition in Edmonton.
