W.W. Gibson's "Multiplane"

"Multiplane” When William Wallace Gibson was at his workshop in British Columbia, he built the first successful airplane engine in Canada. The engine had six cylinders and three carburetors. It was very effective for such an early period, and is now on display at the National Aviation Museum of Canada in Ottawa.

Gibson moved to the Calgary area in 1911, in order to take advantage of the clear Alberta weather required to conduct test flights of his newly developed "Multiplane."

The "Multiplane” and engine have taken their places in Canadian aviation history as an effective and successful effort.
