Alberta Aviation Museum Tour

  Small Passenger Planes
Stubb Ross was successful operating the regional commuter airline, Time Air, because he used cost efficient aircraft like the Beach 18, Short 330 and Short 340 aircraft. Later he attained a F-27 and a Dash-8.

The aircraft chosen by Time Air were the right size for the commuter passenger traffic they were serving. One example was the Short 330, with its square body and seating capacity of thirty. The Short 330 was designed for efficient short to medium runs. The de Havilland Dash 8 had a capacity of thirty to forty seats.

All of these smaller aircraft provided the solution for a market that demanded that small numbers of passengers received efficient service and that an airline flew with as few empty seats as possible.
