The history of aviation in Alberta has been influenced by local, provincial, national and world events, geography and economics,
and the men and women who participated in its evolution over the past 100 years. This section will
introduce a representative selection of these influential moments, from
the Early Years (1903-1914) to
an evaluation of The Future of aviation in Alberta. These
selections will not only provide useful information, but will also
help create an understanding of the
events and advancement in each of the major periods of Alberta’s
aviation history.
The events discussed in this section will illustrate how
Alberta has contributed to the advancement of aviation, how
world events helped and hindered aviation activities, and how
Alberta remains an active part of aviation in Canada and the
world.
