Teacher Zone

In this section are three main sets of resources. There are instructional plans giving ideas and structure for use of the Student Zone resources at the upper elementary level. These address learning outcomes at the grade 4 and 5 Alberta Program of Studies for Social Studies (2005). The second instructional plan organizes the materials in the Secondary Student Zone for use at the Junior Secondary Level. These address learning outcomes at the grade 7 and 9 Alberta Program of Studies for Social Studies (2005). The third section contains some supplementary materials for use in activities related to both the instructional plans. It also contains the answers to the activity sections of both the Elementary and Secondary Student Zones. These include the quiz answer key and the solutions to the Criss Cross and Word Search.

Teacher support documents

In this section are links to PDF documents. The materials are supplementary and can be used at several different places in instruction. One is entitled "Other Images – Franco-Albertan Heritage." This presents a page of photographic images from Franco-Albertan heritage. The file "Posters and Information to Attract Settlers" contains samples of posters to attract settlers. These were used at different times for different audiences and can show students a different approach to communications using posters. Finally, the section contains the "Answers to Student Quizzes and Word Games" for both elementary and secondary student zones.
