Grant MacEwan: The Man
Grant MacEwan was one of the most respected Western Canadians of the twentieth century. He was an agriculturalist, educator, mayor of Calgary, Lieutenant-Governor of Alberta, historian, lecturer, and an author of nearly fifty books.
Grant MacEwan: The Man is a detailed account of his life. There are stories of his childhood and as a university student living in Ontario and later in Iowa. A recipient of a number of prestigious awards, Grant MacEwan lived an energetic filled with opportunities, learning experiences, and great memories. His legacy is vast and beyond that of just a popular historian. He is the namesake of Grant MacEwan College, a post-secondary institution located in Edmonton. In addition, an elementary school in northeast Calgary is named in his honour. This section also includes thoughtful and poignant tributes written by preeminent Western Canadian historians and close members of Grant MacEwan's family.
