Senior Teacher Zone

Welcome to the Senior Teacher Zone section of the Leadership Edukit. The lessons contained in this section are geared towards introducing students to the many Aboriginal political organizations and groups that are providing leadership and empowerment opportunities for Aboriginal people across Canada. Students will also explore the history of the Métis Nation and the leaders, both historical and contemporary that promotes the culture and life ways of this unique group.

Each lesson plan provides a Teacher Information background section on Aboriginal history and culture. Many lesson plans include downloadable worksheets that can be printed off or transferred to transparencies. The lesson plans are all developed to allow students to be interactive as possible in the learning process. The title of each lesson reflects the learning objective, making it easy for you to sort through and choose what information you would like to share with your students. A Resources section includes a list of books and materials that you may want to use to increase your own understanding, to supplement lesson concepts and materials or for students to follow up on their own. Many of the resources are approved by Alberta Education and where possible ISBN and order information is included.
