In this section, Methodist Missionaries in Alberta presents a set
of essays by David Goa, Curator Emeritus of Folklife, Provincial Museum of Alberta.
Mr. Goa's scholarship, writing and work of the past 30 years has
documented and built sources of knowledge on the diverse religious
traditions of Alberta and Western Canada. Amongst these rich collections, David established the United Church Artifact and
Collection Project. The initial concept for the In Their Own Voices
section of this site arose from his work with Rev. Dr. Stephen Wilk and the United
Church Historical Society.
In establishing this and other important collections such as the
Missionary Oblate Core Collection at the Provincial Museum of Alberta,
David Goa speaks and writes extensively and with insight on the experience, memory and
traditions of mission organizations in this part of the world. We are
delighted that his thoughts provide a context and
reflection on the work of the missionary.
