Al Rashid Mosque

As students explore the web pages for Grade 3 Social Studies they will have an opportunity to see how people from around the world have arrived in Alberta and made buildings like those from their homecountry. By doing this, students will appreciate the multicultural aspect of Alberta. Students will also have an opportunity to see the link between people of distant places and people in Alberta.

The student zone web page includes the following:

Alberta has become the new home for people from around the world. People from places like India, Tunisia, and the Ukraine have settled in Alberta. When they arrive to Alberta they bring with them their culture’s traditions and religions, and they construct buildings much like those from their native land.

The buildings in Alberta reflect international architectural styles. Images of these building are provided here for you to see. Once you see some of the pictures, what other buildings in Alberta have you seen that remind you of other places in the world?
