World War I and Industrialization

The discovery of gas in Turner Valley in 1914 increased the province's prosperity and foretold of oil and gas discoveries to come. With this increasing wealth larger buildings that reflected international styles of architecture were seen in Alberta. The modern movement of building with linear and more streamlined construction became increasingly popular.
