Jazz City Festival

Jazz City International Music FestivalJazz City International Music Festival is an Edmonton-based event, known as the longest running International Jazz festival in Canada. Following the Montreal and Vancouver jazz festivals, the Jazz City International Music Festival is the country's third largest jazz event and been in existence for 25 years.

The Jazz City International Music Festival began as an eight-day festival in 1980, during Alberta's 75 anniversary celebrations. The festival has evolved into a 10-day summer event, featuring a wide spectrum of artists from different backgrounds. The festival's mandate is to provide continuing support for the development of new talent, while promoting more established artists as well.

Various venues such as the theatre at the Stanley A. Milner Library, provide intimate settings for jazz performances. Past performers have included such talents as Nicholas Payton, Ricky Lee Jones, and Kurt Elling. Volunteers are very important to the festival since every year, many dedicated individuals gather to deliver a seamless event to the community.
