Organizations

An Edmonton Real Estate Board display.

Real estate organizations play an important role in the real estate industry, which prides itself on being self-regulating as well as complying with federal, provincial and civic legislation. Real estate boards (sometimes called REALTOR® Associations) are professional associations, which manage the Mulitple Listing Service® (MLS®), provide services and education to the members and create and enforce business rules to promote equity, fairness and cooperation amongst members. They also advise governments on legislative decisions that concern their industry, at the municipal, provincial and federal levels. In addition, many real estate organizations are involved in charitable initiatives that promote goodwill between real estate professionals and the public. The following articles deal with the REALTORS® Association of Edmonton, the Calgary Real Estate Board, the Alberta Real Estate Association, the Alberta Real Estate Foundation, the Real Estate Council of Alberta, and the Canadian Real Estate Association. Content for the REALTORS® Association of Edmonton section is taken from John Gilpin's Responsible Enterprise.
