Francophone Theatre in Alberta
- The earliest mention of theatre performances was in 1911 for Joseph Bilodeau's group and of Émile Tessier's troupe called Le Cercle canadien d'Edmonton.
- Performers and cultural groups continued to present plays through the 20th century.
- Saint-Jean was active in drama presentations, and Le Théâtre français d'Edmonton (TFE) was created there in 1967.
- In the 1970s and 1980s many new groups were organized: Boîte à Popicos, Théâtre à la Carte, Le Théâtre du Coyote. In Calgary, Le Tréteau des Rocheuses and La Troupe des Avant-Cimes began.
- In 1992, all the existing troupes were reunited to create L'Unithéâtre. L'Unithéâtre' presents many and varied productions and provides an audience for local Francophone writers.
