If They Come From Above: St. Paul's UFO Landing Pad

Community heritage products can become very creative and thrilling. Few are as creative and thrilling as the St. Paul UFO Landing Pad.

For the 1966-1967 centennial project, St. Paul decided to build an extraordinary monument. Near the recreation centre, the town built a landing pad for unidentified flying objects. A time capsule is inside the 130 tonne pad. It is to be opened in 2067.

The plaque on it reads:

"Republic of St. Paul (Stargate Alpha).

The area under the world's first UFO Landing Pad was designated international by the Town of St. Paul as a symbol of our faith that mankind will maintain the outer universe free from national wars and strife. That future travel in space will be safe for all intergalactic beings. All visitors from Earth or otherwise are welcome to this territory and to the Town of St. Paul."

Almost everything was donated. The final cost was only $11000.00. The UFO landing pad attracts visitors from around the world. Queen Elizabeth II and Mother Theresa have visited. The landing pad includes exhibits on UFO and other strange events.
