Northern Alberta Institute of Technology
Digital and Interactive Media Design is offered through the Northern Alberta Institute
of Technology (NAIT) in Edmonton as a two-year diploma program. Specializing in web
design, CD-ROM development, video production and animation, students come out with a
well-rounded education in the new media arts.
Interactive authoring, the "backbone" of the program, teaches essential technological
concepts including HTML, style sheets,
FTP as well as useful software programs such
as Dreamweaver,
Flash,
Director and
Javascript. From there, specialized courses are
available in applied graphics, 3D modeling and animation and digital audio and
video.
Editing techniques are explored throughout the video production classes, covering 2D
motion graphics, broadcast design, shooting and lighting techniques, web streaming
and compression.
Graphic design classes offer lessons in the basic concepts of design, layout,
composition and typography as it relates to advertising. The courses also include
instruction on interactive web design content and 2D animation and motion design
concepts.
