Southern Alberta Institute of Technology
New
media production and design at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology
(SAIT) in Calgary is a two-year diploma program that focuses on audio and video
production, software programming and 2D and 3D animation. Students are introduced to
different forms of multi-media such as web sites, CD-ROMs and DVD-ROMs. A practicum
must be completed in the fourth semester as a way for students to gain skills and
further knowledge in their chosen industry.
SAIT also offers the cinema, television, stage and radio diploma program. Those
enrolled are able to choose between the four departments and specialize in a
particular field. Film students are taught script writing, direction, sound and
lighting. Television students are taught writing and broadcast technology as it
relates to news programs, variety shows, commercials and sports programming. A
