Georges Bugnet

Georges BugnetGeorges Bugnet worked as a noted novelist, journalist, and horticulturalist. Throughout his life, he was dedicated to his community. Bugnet was a successful author of novels. His first two were written under the pen name of Henri Doutremont.

Bugnet was married to Julia Ley on 30 April 1904. The couple moved to St. Boniface, Manitoba, and then on to St. Albert, Alberta. In 1906, the Bugnets settled in an area 80km northwest of Edmonton near Lac Majeau, This was later called Rich Valley. They would stay there for most of their lives.

He died in St. Albert five weeks before his 102 birthday. A plaque commemorating Bugnet is on east side of route 33 leading to Rich Valley.
