Gentiel and Anna Van Brabant

Gentiel and Anna Van BrabantGentiel immigrated to Canada from Belgium at the turn of the 20 th century. At Saint Paul des Métis in 1906, he worked for the missionaries until the reserve closed in 1909. He wanted his own land, so he registered at the land office.

Gentiel worked in lumber camps for several years before he devoted himself full time to farming. He married Anna Fontaine in 1914 and they had five children. He became ill in 1922 and died four years later at age 45. Anna continued to farm the homestead. She died in 1981, at the age of 90.
