Commercial/Sales

Billboard Advertising was usually the largest commercial department of an average phone company. This section was responsible for producing the Yellow Pages—a feat that required a substantial sales force to fan out to pitch ad space.

Before the explosion of wireless communication, pay phones were another large commercial revenue source. Through their sales departments, AGT and Edmonton Telephones encouraged businesses throughout the province, such as hotels, to have coin-operated phones installed. Phone exchange store

Marketing staff also met with commercial clients to discuss their needs for internal telephone systems, and to identify appropriate Private Branch Exchange (PBX) or Private Automatic Branch Exchange (PABX) equipment.
