Arts and Lifeways - Treaty 7 Management Corporation

Treaty 7 Management Corporation

One month after the Treaty 7 Council Membership was dissolved the Treaty 7 Management Corporation was established. Formed on 1 April 2005, Treaty 7 Management Corporation was created as a means to both advise and ensure that the needs of the Treaty 7 Nations are met.

While they do not engage in program service delivery, this organization facilitates, co-ordinates, and develops positions for lobbying. Matters that they lobby for include improvement in Treaties, Education, Health, Community Development, Social Development, and Economic Development.

The Nations involved with this organization are the Siksika (Blackfoot), Piikani (Peigan), and Kainai (Blood) tribes of the Blackfoot Confederacy, as well as the Tsuu T'ina (Sarcee), and the Nakoda (Stoney) First Nations. Each First Nation is represented by a committee and they work together as a community to ensure that the issues and matters central to each Nation are addressed.
