Amber Valley
Category : Locality | |
This locality was home to one of the earliest and largest African-Canadian settlements in the province. When these homesteaders arrived from Oklahoma around 1910, the area was known as “Pine Creek.” In 1932, when the area residents petitioned for a post office, the name suggested by the local teacher was “Amber Valley.” It was descriptive of the colour of the land. |
