Map of some Other Indian Tribes Place Names

Place names orginating with tribes no longer in Alberta are generally found along the periphery; Kootenay names near the B.C. border and names referring to the Shoshone, Crow or Gros Ventre generally near the United States border. Several names have Iroquois and Ojibwa origins but these names could as easily be described as Metis.
