Rural communities engage in volunteerism the same ways as urban centres, but on a smaller scale. Rural volunteers are involved in crime prevention programs, fire fighting, parent and community involvement in schools, sports events, religious causes, spontaneous acts of kindness, and fundraising initiatives.
