Volunteers are invaluable to the wide ranging social services classification. Volunteers work on distress lines, fundraisers, public awareness campaigns, such as Suicide Awareness marches, support groups, relief to newcomers, co-ops, associations, Boys and Girls clubs, women’s shelters, YMCA and YWCA, food banks, advocacy groups, seasonal help such as Operation Red Nose, Block Parents, SPCA — the list is almost endless.
