This community was named by Sir Sandford Fleming, one-time C.P.R. surveyor (see Introduction) and director of the cement company, Western Canada Cement and Coal Company. It is named after his son-in-law, Lord Exshaw, who helped form the company.

Approximately 15 km east south-east of Canmore.
