Online
Process Analyzers
Aquantix, an Alberta Research Council enterprise unit, has developed and field-tested a group of online process analyzers that could help pulp and paper companies save money by better monitoring and controlling white water chemistry. Initial offerings include a dissolved solids analyzer, a colloidal pitch analyzer, and customized consulting services to help mills take full advantage of these new measurement technologies.
ARC acquired the basic intellectual property related to these technologies in a 1997 technology development agreement. Since then, it has invested significantly in the research, market and business development for Aquantix, which delivers customized solutions to water management challenges faced by the pulp and paper industry.
ARC's Mechanical Pulping Consortium partners have also supported Aquantix through participating in development, testing and in-mill evaluations. As an enterprise unit, Aquantix is required to operate on a strictly commercial basis and is being groomed for spin-off into the private sector.
