Online Quality Control System

Oriented Strand BoardAn on-line quality control system for wood panels is being developed and commercialized under a technology licensing agreement between ARC and CAE Machinery Ltd., Vancouver. CAE is using patented ARC technology to develop a device to continuously monitor the stiffness and strength of panels as they come off the production line.

Currently, board manufacturers achieve quality control by manually pulling and testing only a small percentage of panels. The ARC-CAE machine stress-rating device will ensure all panels meet specifications and provide real-time information so operators can make timely adjustments, resulting in substantial savings in annual operating costs.
