Welcome to Alberta's Natural Resources

Clearcutting near FlatbushThere are issues surrounding all aspects of resource development. For instance, what is sustainable development? If you ask a forest ecologist and the CEO of a forestry company, you will get entirely different answers. What happens when two industries need access to the same land for resource development? Is agriculture really sustainable? What does the famous Kyoto agreement on climate change mean for Albertans and the industries that develop our natural resources?

Featured Article: Whatever Happened to the Alberta Conservation StrategyIn this section we explore only some of these issues and hope to broaden your awareness a bit as to some of the major topics of contention that come with the development of our natural resources. David Dodge's EcoFiles highlight each one of these issues, so listen in to hear more of the story!
