This is a Cree story about Little Bear who is adopted by an old man who tells him why the world had two moons. When Little Bear grows up he shoots one of the moons which become the stars in the sky. A very cute little story.

This book is a wonderful story of Star Boy who is the son of a Blackfoot woman and Morning Star. This book represents the origin of the Blackfoot (Siksika) Sun Dance.

One section of the series focuses on the Blackfoot peoples history, social structure, culture, and the important role of Elders within the community. The timeline begins in 1540's until the 1990's. Excellent resource for teachers.


People of the Buffalo: How the Plains Indians Lived. Rev. ed-Maria Campbell

Douglas and McIntyre (LRDC)

This text explains the culture, language, and importance of the buffalo to the survival of the Plains Indians. This book also describes how the buffalo was hunted and used.
