August 1885: Antonio Nigro and Giovanni
Veltri [John Welch] embarked on a steamer bound for New York from a port in Belgium.
The crossing took 31 days. They first went to Montana and then in May 1887 they went to Spokane.
They worked with Giovanni's brother, Vincenzo [Vincent Welch], doing railroad construction.
In 1897, Fedele [Felix], Antonio's son, joined them in southern B.C. He was 15 years old.
Felix was involved in construction with his father and his uncles in Alberta, Saskatchewan and eastern Canada.
In 1913 Fedele went back to Italy and on March 22nd married Amelia Anselmo. They immigrated to Canada on March 31,1913.
They settled in Winnipeg and on January 11,1914 Joseph Antonio Maria was born aka Bill
In 1920 the family moved to Clyde, Alberta.
