Committees: Working Together to Tackle Issues

MLAs work together in different ways. One obvious way is the Assembly itself: 83 MLAs, seated in the Chamber during a sitting with the governing party on one side and the opposition on the other. A less obvious but very important means for MLAs to work together is that of committees. Basically, there are three types of committees: standing committees, special committees, and committees of the whole Assembly (that is, all the MLAs). 

Standing and special committees are comprised of MLAs from all political parties in the Assembly, and they make decisions about critical issues and present their findings in a report.
