Oil Springs, Ontario 150 Years Back to the Future, International Symposium and Field Trip

May 7 - 10, 2008 - Sarnia, Ontario, Canada

Petroleum historians, ancestors of early oil families and community representatives and funders signalled the 150th anniversary of the coming in of the first wells in Oil Springs through a Symposium that showcased new scholarship.

The Program - Co-organizers Robert Cochrane, Robert Bott and Joe Van Overberghe created an ambitious program. A number of presentations compared and contrasted the discovery of oil in Oil Springs, Ontario, Canada, in 1858 and in Titusville, Pennsylvania, USA, in 1859.
